Feel-Alive Art

Who is this rising star? Born in Bangladesh, raised in Denmark, Copenhagen-based Shefali Ranthe is a lively and dynamic force for Art, making an impact around the world.

She may be slight in stature, but with the power of a volcano, Shefali Ranthe’s vibrant art is flashing across the international art scene.

From Beijing to Dubai, New York, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Barcelona, Turkey, China, Korea…the list goes on. Her prize-winning work has been exhibited and placed in art museums around the world.

Paint has always been in her veins. She achieved a BA (Art and Culture) at Aarhus University, Denmark, and has further studied in Sweden, Ghana and Dubai, after which she set up and ran an Art school in Dubai for 10 years before returning home to Copenhagen.

Her motivation is simple:

"...for me, Art is about creating happiness, surprises and fresh thinking; Art makes me feel alive, and I seek to share this experience of harmony and long-lasting joy everywhere."

Shefali first drew her inspiration from the 1950’s group CoBrA, and the Avant-Garde movement. Her unique style has matured into a contiguous creation of colourful expressions with a child-like spontaneity and delight.

Her paintings are textured, with bold brush strokes and alive with humour and flirtatiousness. The subjects are always joyous combinations of human and animal life forms, co-existing equally in the world.

Currently, she has been commissioned to create a work for the Beijing Winter Olympics (right). Even during these uncertain times, she continues to travel to curate global art extravaganzas, to exhibit her own work, and to teach.

Her success as an artist has given her the status and ability to ‘pay forward’ - something she feels very strongly about, with active involvement in various charities in Asia and Europe, including the non-profit, Whyte Raven cultural aid.

Charity work: Red Barnet, ‘Artists for the kids of Syria’, ‘Art on wheels’, curator for Whyte Raven cultural aid and advisor for new artists.

If she had one piece of advice to give young artists, it would be: “follow your dreams with hard work, dedication and always work with something that you love, whatever makes your life joyful.”
